THE COVET LIST † No. 3
Ah, yes, it’s another “monthly” Covet List.
Ha, ha, ha.
I know these have been less than punctual, but I am trying real hard to balance everything going on in my life right now, and I’m going to get my sh*t together—pinky swear.
Anyway.
It’s October, and the air is finally nice and cool. The oaks are shaking their lovely leaves all over North Carolina, and I’m just really in the spirit, and the spirits are in the spirit, and it’s all just groovy.
Covet List † No. 3 is, as always, a collection of the things that I’m lusting after, but as it is the season of spooks, many of the items on this list reflect the vibes that have already taken over a lot of us.
CHIAROSCURO NECKLACE// EUGENIE BEE //$190
The appropriately named Chiaroscuro necklace from Eugenie Bee features freshwater pearls, an ex voto charm, and a small locket.
Dramatic—but still delicate—and divinely feminine, this necklace could be worn anywhere, but is more than fitting for special occasions.
GOAT LINO PRINT // PRINT IS DEAD SHOP // $13.50
Inspired by Black Phillip and printed on handmade paper, this charming piece from Print is Dead would make a fantastic piece of home decor or as a gift for your more darkly inclined friends (or just your friendly neighborhood goat lady, i.e. my mother). It is printed by hand so each piece is subtilely different.
FORTUNE MIRROR // BELLADONNA NOIR // $176.42
I really love this design from Belladonna Noir and the way that it mirrors (ha) the imagery of the wheel of fortune. It is a statement piece that creates intrigue through an interesting design rather than a loud one, which is always nice to see.
This unique necklace features a mirror amulet and your choice of a garnet or cracked crystal charm.
THE FLORA COMB // HOWLING MOON // $32.40
These elegant, brass combs from Howling Moon Headwear are crafted using genuine Edwardian molds. They measure in at a petite two inches, making them the perfect size for adding a touch of floral flair sans color.
SÉANCE CANDLE // WERTHER & GRAY // $18
Your can go ahead and cancel your appointment with the local medium.
Scented with sage, amber, and smoke, the Séance candle from Werther & Gray captures one of the most intriguing aspects of the Spiritualist movement and condenses it into 8 oz of wax*.
*Ectoplasm not included.
THE TOKEN NECKLACE NO.1 // THE NORTH WAY STUDIO // $800
The North Way Studio is one of my absolute favorite jewelry shops. Their work is so perfect, so lovely, and I’m always in awe whenever they post a new listing.
This piece, Token Necklace No. 1, is a modern take on memento mori. Featuring a hand-carved skull, from which an elegant pendant of Mozambique garnet and natural rubies hangs, this necklace is a gothic beauty that I—and any sane person—would most certainly sin for.
WILDWOOD SILK RIBBON // NETTLE TEXTILES // $12 - $36
Listen.
Do I really, really need more ribbon?
No, I do not.
Do I want this? Am I plotting to buy this?
Yes, on both counts.
Nettle Textiles sells handmade, naturally dyed fabrics, and I just really enjoy staring intently at my phone, lovingly stroking the glass, trying my very best to pull the velvet and silk through the screen.
THE PALETTE OF ALCHEMY // FOR STRANGE WOMEN // $180 - $220
Not to be dramatic, but I’d do a whole lot more than sin to get this gorgeous palette from For Strange Women.
The product of a collaboration with Evil Pawn Jewelry, this art nouveau inspired palette holds four For Strange Women’s solid fragrances of your choice.
HAND KNITTED SWEATER // ATELIER DE JOLIE // $98
When I tell you that I’ll never stop being impressed by the artisans and creators you can find on Etsy, I mean it.
This gorgeous, impossibly soft-looking cardigan from Atelier De Jolie is made to order and is available in both dark blue and silvery grey in sizes XS to XL.
ANNABEL LEE CANDLE // OLD SOUL ARTISAN // $14 - $24
“It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.”
-Edgar Allen Poe
As Annabel Lee is the girl Poe loves the most, “Annabel Lee” is the Poe poem I love the most. Beautiful but ultimately tragic, this poem really captured me when I was a tween, so I was very excited to find this candle from Old Soul Artisan.
Old Soul Artisan is a candle company that specializes in scents that are inspired by “literature, folklore, and the dark psyche”. All things that are very much in my wheelhouse.
Their Annabel Lee candles smell of magnolia blossom and sea mist, a lovely and sorrowful scent.
